“Slide from of Paul Molenaar presentation, reference of active links in blogs”
Blognomics passed last week. I didn’t really follow it but it seems that few of the main points are about web 2.0 and the lack of advertisement 2.0 (LeMeur). Well, ok.

He he , Tijs just made a huge mistake
Well launched is maybe a bit of a big word for registering a domain name and installing a Wiki on it, but either way… Today is the day that PimpMyCode.nl goes live. A website that allows you to share and comment on working code with a single goal; elegance in programming. Plus you might learn something.

Looks great and therefore I’m not going to write to much about it before I use it myself and share my experience with you. It seems to serve my acute server problem for my new site www.bangkoktalk.nl and www.bangkoktalk.tv.

With adoption of ODF by ISO/IEC now assured, software that implements the standard will now become more attractive to those European and other government purchasers for whom global adoption by ISO/IEC is either desirable, or required. Given the ongoing unhappiness in Europe with Microsoft over what the EU regards as unacceptable bundling and other practices, this may be particularly significant, especially when taken with the desire of many European and other purchasers to use open source products whenever possible.

When I’m really tired I often just browse though video’s on e.g. video.google.com or search for nice pictures for e.g. the header for this site on Flickr.
Today I found a real nice photoset of the Shanghai Train Station. Especially the pictures taken during the rain season are awesome.
Taken mainly during three sessions, in July and November 2005 as well as January 2006

Allthough people roughly since 2004 can imitate CNN video reporters in Afghanistan with their videophone as citizen real-time tv-reporters, it isn’t happening. Already in 2000 this was noticed (in 2003 some initiatives) but now 2006 with barely 28% of video phone users, it hasn’t caught on very quick.
Yes Youtube is booming, yes complete films are made with mobiles, viewed and broadcasted. Still, mobile video reporting/vlogging is not adopted by the masses.
So what could change that? Here are some developments…

Lyceum has been around for a while but now finally the first versionized version of Lyceum is out.
Although there are already with for example Wordpress MU solutions for multiple blogs, the finalization of the first workable Lyceum version shows there much development in this field possible.
Almost every SQL statement has been changed. There have been many changes made to add security that is needed in a multi-blog environment. In terms of features and the vast majority of business logic, essentially none of the other code has been changed. Lyceum is currently synchronized with WordPress 2.01, and will continue to synchronize its codebase with future WordPress releases
Which means it allows for plug-ins and all other stuff, good stuff!
I do wonder however if the number of 200,000 is really enough though for the big game, like for example Typepad recently showed. Especially since Lyceum focuses on enterprises.
Update: And the scaling debate continues..

You’d think that with global terrorist threats and fighting two wars, the US Defense Department would have little time on its hands to start a circus troupe.
However, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has filed a patent application for a contraption designed to hurl SWAT teams and other emergency workers onto the roofs of inaccessible tall buildings human cannonball style, New Scientist reports.

We are deeply disturbed by reports indicating that the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) may be in the process of adopting legislation that would require religious minorities in Iran — including Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians — to adopt distinctive color schemes, or according to some reports, different colored cloth markers that would identify them. This is part of legislation, originally introduced in 2004 but blocked within the Majlis, mandating that Iranians wear standard Islamic garments.
While such legislation would be reminiscent of dark periods in the past, like the Nazi era when Jews and others had to wear identifying badges, it is also consistent with the racist and extremist ideology propagated by President Ahmadinejad.
