While in January I was totally used to the new administration section of WP 2.5. But with the final 2.5 release I conclude, like many other, that this release is like 1.5 and 2.1: a major one.
It is the right answer for the demand of more simplicity *think tumblr. At the same time WordPress has actually managed to automate the plugin management.
Moreover, when you listen careful to Matt, notice how much more ambitious (in concrete terms) he getting again. Talking faster when mentioning mobile development and the growth of core script developers (now 100 people stong).
The general trend that the best basic plugins are integrated into WordPress continues. The new image library mechanism sounds like a great development. We haven’t really used most image library options because browsing images in your wordpress is a pain. If the view options could improve so that large amounts of images are easily looked at, this might change. For the next version I do hope the tag integration and extra options are optimized. Many plugins in this field are at the moment still incompatible.
Meanwhile Wordcamps are really starting to take off as an great part of the wordpress community. Quite a change.
