Stock & Shock
Interview with Naomi Wolf author of “Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries” given October 4, 2008 on Mind Over Matters, KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle
Stockmarkets had a ball today and while media is all about panic and crisis stories. It seems like the shock doctrine is on again.
Who would think that the military needs now to expand activities on its own people? Yet even the British government wants, after abuse and mismanagement of government databases, even more database power?

Rokers pesten antirookorganisatie

Alarm clock you shoot at
Bandai has a new alarm clock coming out on November 15 called the Gun O’Clock. It looks like a normal rectangular alarm clock, but it comes with a gun and target. When the alarm stars ringing, you have to get up, grab your gun, and start shooting. Every time you pull the trigger and miss, you’ll feel the blowback—if you hit the target, the alarm will stop and you can wake up refreshed and satisfied. You can choose from Normal or Hard mode—the latter requires you to hit the target five times.[via]

Nobel & Kavli Prizes 2008

Yesterday was announced that Paul Krugman receives the nobel prize for his economic works.
Krugman is outspoken regarding current economic policy, but more interesting: He is well capable of defending his positions against talking-heads.
We wrote about the Nobel prizes before, as turns out the new Norwegian prize has been awarded last month. Apparently even an award for dutchmen Maarten Schmidt, any newspaper picked that up?
Wireless Rotterdam City Center

Some plan for wireless internet in Rotterdam. Sounds quite similar to amsterdam plans for a wireless city-center.

Australia forcing secret internet filters?

Electronic Frontiers Australia (EFA) today expressed alarm at the news that the Government’s “Clean Feed” Internet censorship plan will not allow Australian adults to opt-out.
The filter, which will be mandatory for all Australians, was initially touted as a “cyber-safety” measure for homes with children. However, recent comments by experts have revealed the existence of a second, secret black list, that would apply even to homes that managed to opt out of the child-safe filtering scheme.
Australia is heading for a serious backward-syndrome if it will enforce this plan.
