Afgelopen november heb ik enkele stukken -het gaan er uiteindelijk 9 worden- geschreven over innovatiemanagement. In 2009 heb ik meerdere lezingen gegeven over dit onderwerp en specifiek ben ik ingegaan op het innovatiebeleid in Nederland. Ik ben daar namelijk niet zo tevreden over … Ook ben ik zeer kritisch over de rol van TNO, DLO/WUR en de manier waarop vele universiteiten de ‘ondernemende universiteit’ uithangen. Ook zijn de brede heroverweging van de ambtelijke werkgroepen met hun rapportages gekomen (8. innovatie en onderzoek). Met pasen gaf ik aan daar nog op te willen reageren, maar ik heb nog geen tijd gehad om een stukje te schrijven. De vraag is natuurlijk wat dan het alternatief is. Het alternatief is in mijn ogen een concept wat ik noem Nederland Innovatieland 3.0. De essentie is dat ik sterk onderscheid maak tussen innoveren en tussen het doen van onderzoek. Dit zijn verschillende takken van sport.

De Piratenpartij heeft vernomen dat BREIN en Ziggo achter gesloten deuren al enige tijd in gesprek zijn. BREIN zou, onder dreiging van het aanpassen van de licentievoorwaarden van diensten die Ziggo nu of in de toekomst aanbied, grote druk hebben uitgeoefend op Ziggo om zich tijdens het kort geding sub-optimaal te laten verdedigen. Het is de Piratenpartij niet bekend of het hier om licentievoorwaarden van online on-demand TV diensten gaat, of reguliere doorgifte van bestaande Ziggo TV diensten.
Los van de timing, BREIN opent namelijk de aanval terwijl het parlement met mei-reces is, valt op dat BREIN iedere Nederlander met een snelle internetverbinding op voorhand schuldig verklaart door te beweren dat zij “vooral op het internet zitten vanwege de toegang tot illegale muziek, films, televisieseries en games”. Op deze manier criminaliseert BREIN ten onrechte bijna alle internetgebruikers.

Canvas is hardcore!
The information is pretty much just a copy of what is found in the WHATWG specs, just condensed and hopefully a bit easier to read. There are virtually no explanations, however, and no examples other than some graphics for compositing values and a few other things (the appearance of which is very much inspired by those found in Mozilla’s examples). So, it’s basically just a listing of the attributes and methods of the canvas element and the 2d drawing context.

Boris van der Ham over de nieuwe fundraising 2.0 site van D66. Iedereen kan fundraising projecten aanmaken, via social media er mensen bij betrekken en geld ophalen voor de party. Doel is om 300k op te halen, iets minder dan 1 miljoenste van het resultaat van obama.
Ben trots op www.Iksteund66.nl. De afgelopen drie weken hebben we bij WWAV (waar ik werk) hard samengewerkt met D66 (o.a. Marjolein Kampschreur) om deze unieke politieke fundraising Yoco te lanceren.

Marco Arment has noticed a growing problem on the App Store; as hits emerge from among the free and paid apps, some companies are doing a little search scamming. They’re ripping off the names, styles, and sometimes even the art of popular iPhone apps. He went to get the popular Angry Birds game and found that there are companies actually selling apps with “Cheats” and “Trivia” added on to the titles, often reusing the artwork from the original game.

David Simon rants that besides many things that do happen in NYC, there is another reality.
Na de strandrellen in Hoek van Holland besloot burgemeester Aboutaleb om het vergunningenbeleid voor evenementen aan te scherpen. Dat betekende voor de Dance Parade onder meer stengere veiligheids- maatregelen en die vindt de organisatie te duur. Ook mochten de wagens met dj’s niet meer door het centrum rijden.
Een meer gekleurde mening is dat burgemeester Aboutaleb, die alles in het werk gesteld heeft om eigen falen te ontkennen bij de strandrellen, hier bewust (door onmogelijke eisen) aanstuurt om juist deze snel verveelde jongerengroep geen activiteiten te geven. Het is wanbeleid, want de groep zal zich in de steek gelaten voelen en dan is het echt bal in de stad.
Rotterdammers zijn trots dat veel cultuur rijke festiviteiten gehouden kunnen worden omdat bestuur, geen angstig beleid voert. Rotterdam durft! is hier zo de slogan bij. Het verschil met betuttelend Amsterdam zoals sommige smalend roepen. En laat nou net, deze burgemeester Aboutaleb, die toch louter voor zijn eigen politieke hachje lijkt te acteren, uit.. jawel Amsterdam komen.
Meer munitie heeft de jongerengroep tegen Aboutaleb niet nodig.

One aspect of designing for the web that almost immediately offends designers is the lack of fonts that are considered safe to use. While it is true that there are only a handful of web safe fonts, the ones we do have at our disposal can be quite powerful and diversely useful. On top of that, CSS gives us a nice little thing called a font stack.
Web typography isn’t easy to get right, and this article is really helpful.
