Maar dat zou wel eens een ongezonde keus kunnen zijn. Blootstelling aan de zon is namelijk slecht voor je huid, maar erg goed voor je hart.Volgens een onderzoek van de University of Edinburgh zorgt zonlicht dat nitric oxide in ons bloed komt. Die stog zorgt voor een verlaging van de bloeddruk en verlaagt dus ook alle schadelijke effecten die verbonden zijn aan te hoge bloeddruk. De onderzoekers denken dat de heilzame effecten aanzienlijk zijn. En dat weegt vermoedelijk royaal op tegen de negatieve effecten in verband met huidkaner. In ons deel van de wereld is de kans op hart- en vaatziekten 60 tot 100 keer hoger dan de kans op huidkanker. (via)

No one looked for the words until Feb. 7, then searches surged faster than any term Google ever had, except for “Whitney Houston” after her death. A few weeks later, they fell close to zero. Imagine going to work every day and at the start of your day, with your first cup of coffee, you sit down to glance at beheadings, children in the process of being raped, human bodies in various stages of decomposition, the living and dead results of domestic violence, hanging bodies of 10 year old boys accused of being gay, real-life snuff films and bloody dog fighting rings and their subsequent results. Can you think up a human horror? I’ve probably seen it or a picture or video of something very similar.

Not all of the information that Facebook moderators are privy to is as horrifying as the end results mention above, some are worse. The terror in those is that they are the calls of those whose private horrors, abuse or murders are currently in process. True cries for help come from FB users every day, all day long.
