Kudos for picking up this book and shirnag it with your readers I loved it myself. For a more personal take on technology’s effect on families, I also enjoyed Susan Maushart’s memoir The Winter of Our Disconnect: How Three Totally Wired Teenagers (and a Mother Who Slept with Her iPhone)Pulled the Plug on Their Technology and Lived to Tell the Tale). Watching Maushart’s return to living in RL (real life) was informative. She describes how our virtual lives can actually keep us from addressing very real needs in our personal lives, and for her, unplugging led to taking the reins of finding her own happiness. The story of her son’s transformation from 24/7 gamer to someone who pursues his own dreams is equally impressive. I like the idea of internet-free hours each day. 3-7 is a good start for me I can’t speak for my husband, as the baseball season is still in full swing. Thanks for another thoughtful article!

Congrats on the awe inspiring story. Funny about timnig, I just finished watching today’s ultimate Stage 19 with the climb up the famed Alpe d’Huez which goes right through the infamous Dutch Corner that so inspiring.To continue your awesome efforts have you in past years taken advantage of the annual Grand Tour and bring your cause directly to the people (gorilla street marketing) who line the Dutch Corner during the grand tour? Posting signs along the rocks, flyering the cars and handing info out to the spectators many who are cyclists and would love to ride and conquer that route while helping to make a difference for those living with and fighting for their lives against cancer. What an awesome way to target new potential participants. I’d also pull copy of today’s footage through that region (if possible maybe try to work with French 2/3 TV station for support) and try to work that into your marketing materials (great for digital communications.)For 10 years I worked with non-profit and membership groups on their direct marketing programs raising funds and building member databases. What would it matter what Elsevier does for his money? I see no evil in selling things to SOPA and/or Research Works Act. I think mister Tim Gowers rather got the money for himself and in his frustration is now boycotting Elsevier.
I don’t like such actions.
The doktor is now behind Elsevier.
